Meeting Minutes of November 12, 2020

Call to Order: Grand Knight, Justin Lillich called the virtual meeting by Google to order at 7:00 p.m.

Wardens Report: Cards were not checked because the meeting was virtual because of the pandemic. However, members were checked by visual recognition on screen.

Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance: Led by Grand Knight Justin Lillich.

Roll Call: Roll Call was suspended for this virtual meeting.

Attendance: Present: 15 Total Membership: 344

Approval of Minutes: The October 8, 2020, minutes were sent out to the entire Council by e-mail. Upon motion duly made and seconded the minutes were amended to reflect the Insurance Agent as John Rodrequez whose telephone number is (913) 403-9400. With this amendment a motion was duly made and seconded to approve the minutes and the motion passed.

Grand Knight’s Report

Grand Knight Justin Lillich inform the Council we had not yet received our Star Council Award from last year or the Columbian Award from the year before. He said he would contact the District Deputy to see whether he could get those delivered.

 

He informed the Council there would be no Officers’ Meeting in November as the fourth (4) Thursday of the month was Thanksgiving. He said he would contact the Officers by e-mail and attempt to schedule it for December 3.

 

He expressed special thanks to Greg Brown for running the Coast for Kids Progarm, Phil Fowler for running the Toostie Roll Drive, and Ken O’Bryan for running the “Play Along Football” Program this year.

 

Finally, he reported to the Council the Mass for Fallen Knights was held in the Church on Tuesday evening on November 10 at 6 P.M. Tribute was paid to the Fallen Knights of the Council during the Mass and a Rosary was said in their behalf following the Mass. He thanked Greg Brown for organizing it.

 

Deputy Grand Knight Report

The Deputy Grand Knight, Mike Conrad, was present and had no report:

Financial Reports

Treasurer

Tom Gaume, the Treasurer, was present. He reported to the Council there was a current balance in the treasury of $8,631.54. This balance does not reflect the money collected and set aside for next year’s Coats for Kids. He informed the Council he and the Financial Secretary will reconcile the donated monies coming in for Coats for Kids to be carried forward next year and report it to the Council at the next meeting.

Financial Secretary’s Report

Greg Miller, the Financial Secretary, was present. He reported he was in the process of sending out the dues for 2021. He reported to the Council there were fifty-three (53) members delinquent in dues from last year. He said ten (10) members were three years delinquent and thirteen (13) were two year delinquent.

 

LECTOR’S ADDRESS

There was no Lector’s address this month.

DIRECTOR’S REPORTS

MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR

Chad Eickholt, the Membership Director, was present. He said our new membership count for the 2020/2021 fiscal year to earn the Father McGivney Award was 18. He informed the Council we have two new members thus far for the year and no new members this month.

YOUTH DIRECTOR

 

Don Watson, the Youth Director, reported because of the corona virus there will be no Basketball Free Throw Contest this year.

 

OLD BUSINESS

 

Greg Brown was called upon to provide a final report on the Coats for Kids Program this year. Greg was duly recognized and informed the Council 147 coats were delivered to schools this year for children.

 

Thereafter Phil Fowler was called upon to provide a final report on the Toostie Roll Drive Program. Phil was duly recognized and informed the Council the Toostie Roll drive netted $3,107. Upon a motion duly made and seconded it was passed to distribute evenly the net proceeds to Friends of Johnson County and to Lake Mary House.

 

Finally, Ken O’Bryan was called upon to provide a final report to the Council regarding the Play Along Football Program. Ken reported there were about 617 tickets sold through Holy Spirit grossing around $7,364 which half went to Holy Spirit Church and the other half went to the Council.

NEW BUSINESS

With “Old Business being concluded the Grand Knight asked whether anyone had any new business to bring up with the Council.

 

It was brought up under New Business to discuss with Father whether it was possible to have more Sunday Masses because the current Masses being held are generally full to the maximum limited capacity allowed during this pandemic.

   

FOURTH DEGREE REPORT

 

Dan Hageman, as Faithful Navigator, informed the Council he had nothing to report as the Assembly was not meeting during the pandemic.

 

KNIGHT OF QUARTER AND FAMILY OF QUARTER

 

The Grand Knight reminded the Council of the change it made of going from Knight and Family of the Month to Knight and Family of the Quarter. With that said, the Grand Knight announced the Knight of the Quarter and the Family of the Quarter. There were:

DISTRICT DEPUTY COMMENTS:

 

No report. The District Deputy was absent.

 

INSURANCE AGENT REPORT

  

The Field Agent, John Rodrequez, was not present so there was no report. Any Knight needing an insurance product was encouraged to contact John at (913) 403-9400.

 

FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER

 

There were prayer request made for John Weber who was undergoing double knee replacement surgery today, November 12.

 

ADORATION

 

The Adoration Chapel is now opened at the Church. Jerry Gertsberger informed the Council due to the pandemic and the requirement to distance there is limited space in the Adoration Chapel. He asked any Council member interested in spending time in the Adoration Chapel to contact him and he would put them on the sub list.
