Unfinished Business

  The Grand Knight asked whether anyone had any unfinished business to bring up. Ken O’Bryan stood and was recognized.

  Ken O’Bryan informed the Counsel the Play along Football ticket sales start the weekend of July 27 and 28. He said it runs for six consecutive weeks. He emphasized the event is the second largest fund raiser for the Council.

  With Unfinished Business being concluded the Grand Knight asked whether anyone had any new business to bring up with the Council. Rich Triola stood and was recognized.

  Brother Triola emphasized the importance of recruiting to the Council. He suggested more men would join the Knights if they appreciated all the good work and deeds Knights did. In an effort to capitalize on the Knights good works and deeds for recruitment, Brother Triola asked members to wear the Knights brand whenever they did anything. To facilitate the wearing of the Knights’ brand Brother Triola said he was taking orders for t-shirts, hats, etc. to place with Supreme. He indicated the cost of a t-shirt was $20 and a baseball cap was $10. He said he had prices for other things too.

  He closed by saying those interested could contact him after the meeting.

  Also, under new business, the Grand Knight reported Greg Davis was chairing the annual Royal game outing. He said Greg could not be here tonight, but reported to him he had picked September 13, 2019, a Friday for the event. Grand Knight reported Brother Knight Davis had calculated a 40 person response at $50 a person as a break even number. For 40 people, the cost of tickets would be $1,200.00 (plus $20.00 for bus parking) and the cost of the chartered bus would be $798.25 or a total of $2,018.25. A motion was made and approved to expend the $2,018.25 as an upfront cost.

  The Grand Knight called upon Dan Hageman to give the 4th Degree report.

The Assembly was not meeting in July or August.;

The Bishop Ward Picnic would be held August 2 at the Knights’ Hall in Shawnee, Kansas like last year.;

8 Honor Guard Members were present at the 4th of July Mass at Holy Spirit.; and

The next Assembly Meeting would be September 16, 2019.

The Grand Knight extended an invitation for the State Advocate, Michael Gothoff, to address the Council. The State Advocate was recognized and invited everyone to attend the State Convention next year. He said the guest speaker at the event would be Abbey Johnson, the actual pro-abortion advocate who turned pro-life and Catholic convert who is the subject matter of the book and movie title Unplanned.

Also, he said the State Council was seeking advertisement, Statewide, for next year’s event.

Finally, he addressed the question what impact the new Regalia requirement was having on the 4th Degree Honor Guard turnout. He talked openly about it and in his concluding remark indicated he thought it was having a negative impact because the purpose of changing was an attempt to get younger Knights to become Honor Guard members. Instead he said, the State of Kansas has not seen this result and the older members are choosing to retire from the Honor Guard verses buying the new Regalia uniforms.

  The Grand Knight extended an invitation for the District Deputy, Steve Glary, to address the Council.

  The District Deputy congratulated the Council on reaching 25 years of service. He encouraged the Council to make use of their summer social time to recruit men to the Order. District Deputy Report

Steve Glary, 913-302-6500, reported that the State Convention was successful and enjoyable. He made a point that the Rosary plays a powerful role in undermining abortion. Sonograms prove that the life of the unborn is obvious.

Steve drove home that Supremes’ youth protection and (no cost) background check is good for the council, good for the kids and parents, and good for the parish.

Star Council award gives the council a $4.50 rebate per member.

Prayers Requested.

John Weber mentioned Richard “Rolly” Rollins, grandson of Dick and Joan Korek, has passed away. He loved the Lenten dinners, working the balloons with his grandparents, the clowns.

George Wirtz, a new born, is struggling with heart issues.
