Meeting Minutes of December 9, 2021
Call to Order: Grand Knight, Jim Easterday called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Warden’s Report: The meeting was held in the Holy Spirit Catholic Church’s Martha and Mary room. The meeting was preceded by “Men’s Knight Out.”
Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance: The Chaplain led the Council in prayer and the Grand Knight led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call: Officers absent at the meeting were the Recorder, 2nd Year Trustee, and 3rd Year Trustee. A total number in attendance at the meeting was not recorded.
Attendance: Present: 23+; Total Membership: 319
Approval of Minutes: Upon motion duly made and seconded, the minutes from the November 11, 2021, meeting were approved.
Grand Knight’s Report
Grand Knight, Jim Easterday gave the following report:
1.The Council had no winners in the Catholic Education Fund Drawing
2.The Council received $375 credit for tickets sold – earmarked for RCIA…a check was presented to Fr. Andrew
3.He provided a positive report on the Knight’s collection of small items for Afghan refugees – approximately nine Knights and Father loaded up six cars and trucks with the collection of items on the following Monday.
4.The Grand Knight expressed thanks to the Council for the great participation of volunteers at the Breakfast with Santa event on Sunday, December 5;
5.He also asked that those involved in niche areas for the breakfast provide lessons learned via e-mail;
6.The Council will support the March to Life Trip to DC by High School youth in amount of $300
7.The Council is receiving contributions in Jack McGranaghan’s name. John Weber is collecting and has been keeping track of the contributions received.
8.Letters were received from The Blessed Brian Foundation and Conception Abby
Deputy Grand Knight
The Deputy Grand Knight, Don Watson, had no report.
Chaplain’s Report
Fr. Andrew was reported there would be a Holy Hour on December 12 at 3:00p for Pro-Life in commemoration of Archbishop Naumann’s leadership of Pro-Life activities for the Catholic Church in the US.
Financial Reports
Financial Secretary Report
A review of the receipts from Breakfast with Santa was provided:
1.Receipts from patrons $2174
2.Food and Other Costs $1463
Net Proceeds $ 711
Discussed that Breakfast was priced too high. Intent was to break even.
Bills were presented and discussed but not captured by the recorder.
Upon motion duly made and seconded it was approved to pay the bills.
Treasurer’s Reports
Tom Spencer, the Treasurer, was present and gave the Treasurer’s report as follows:
Bank Balance on hand (As of September 9, 2021): $30,687.87
Less: Checks Outstanding $ 2,252.63
Less: earmarked Coats for Kids’ fund $ 7,016.54
Less: earmarked Donations for Seminarians fund $ 3,607.00
Remainder: $ 17,811.70

Lector’s Address
The Lector, Greg Brown, gave his presentation on Bl. Michael McGivney and the on-going theme of St. Joseph since this is the year of St. Joseph.
Membership Director
The Grand Knight called on the Membership Director to give his report. Chad Eickholt, the Membership Director, was absent, but Bill Ramsey reported. Bill said the next “Sporting Knights” event would be January 11 (KU Basketball Game) in the Martha and Mary Room.
He also indicated several men signed up during the recruiting event held during the weekend of Breakfast with Santa. A couple of new transfers were also identified.

Family Director
John Weber as Family Director was absent—no report.
Life Director
Dave Boone was absent – no report.
YOUTH DIRECTOR
Don Watson was present and called upon to give the Youth Director report. Don provided an update on the status of the Free Throw Contest. He requested volunteers see him after the meeting to sign up for available practice slots.
Community Director
Mike Bergkamp, the Community Director was present; he recognized the Council for help with the Afghan refugee small item collection and deferred to Rick Trudell for details.

WEBMASTER REPORT
Bob Long was not present; there was no report.
Unfinished Business
Greg Brown updated the Council on the current status of the Coats for Kids Collection.
Greg was informed of a potential Coats for Kids need during the Breakfast with Santa event. Greg took quick action and followed through with getting coats to support this need.
New Business
With “Unfinished Business” concluded, the Grand Knight asked whether anyone had any new business to bring up with the Council.
Next, there was discussion regarding the 50 / 50 collection and drawing. It was then suggested that an on-going attendance prize be created with the other portion of the 50/50 collection. The motion was that one-half of the collection would continue to be distributed to a selected attendee at that night’s meeting. The other half would be awarded to a selected member from the entire Council roster; however, this selected member must be at the meeting to collect. If not present, the funds would carry-over to the next month building the attendance prize. The motion was seconded and approved after discussion.
Fourth Degree Report
Dan Hageman, the Faithful Navigator was present. Dan reminded everyone of there was no Fourth Degree Meeting in December. They would be back to the regular schedule in January.

Jerry Gerstberger was present. He said the Adoration Chapel was open and there were seven (7) Knights who attended last Wednesday. He said there was space for eighteen (18).
