Meeting Minutes of March11, 2021

Call to Order: Grand Knight, Justin Lillich called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.

Wardens Report: Because of the corona virus epidemic the meeting was held virtual. No membership cards were checked. However, all attending were recognized as active members by face recognition.

Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance: Led by Grand Knight Justin Lillich

Roll Call: Roll call of Officers was suspended by the Grand Knight, but the sixteen (16) members present were duly recognized..

Attendance: Present: 16; Total Membership: 341

Approval of Minutes: Upon motion duly made and seconded, the minutes from the February 11, 2021, meeting was approved.

 

Grand Knight’s Report

Grand Knight, Justin Lillich announced:

 

1.Holy Cross Church was having their inaugural golf outing. All were invited;

2.The Church announced meetings in person could begin again. The Council was given the choice of the second, third or fourth Tuesday of each month to meet at the Church; and

3.Justin Lillich announced his resignation as Grand Knight along with Mike Conrad, the Deputy Grand Knight. Their resignation would take effect immediately after the conclusion of the meeting.

 

 

Deputy Grand Knight Report

Present, no report given.

At this juncture, Rick Trudell asked to be recognized. Rick Trudell was duly recognized and announced he had agreed to be interim active Grand Knight and Rich Triola had agreed to be interim Deputy Grand Knight for the remainder of this term ending June 30.

 

Financial Reports

Treasurer

Tom Gaume was present, and gave the following report.

Bank Balance on hand:             $23,707.26

Less: earmarked Coats for Kids’ fund           $3,571.11

Less: earmarked Donations for Seminarians fund   $4,882.00

Remainder           $15,254.15  

 

Financial Secretary

Financial Secretary was absent. However, Tom Gaume gave this report for him:

 

The Council’s insurance obligation has come due ($809.50); and the religious kiosks booklets ($159.75) sponsored by the Knights needed replenishing. Upon motion duly made and seconded these Council’s bills were approved for payment.

 

Also, it was announced Greg Miller’s tenure as Financial Secretary expires at the end of June. Anyone interested in holding this position should contact Rick Trudell, acting interim Grand Knight.

 

 

LECTOR’S ADDRESS

The Grand Knight called on the Lecturer to address the Council with his program. Greg Brown, the Lector, continued his dialogue on St. Joseph. This month’s program was titled “Can We Trust His Care.”

MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR

  The Grand Knight called on the Membership Director to give his report. Chad Eickholt, the Membership Director, said there was nothing new to report. He said the Council was still at a positive two new members this year. He said once we get back to normal, he’d like to devise some programs facilitating family gatherings.

 

 

 

 

PROGRAM DIRECTOR:

   

  The Grand Knight called on the Program Director to give his report. Rich Triola was present, but had nothing to report.

 

FAITH DIRECTOR:

 

  The Grand Knight called on the Faith Director to give his report. Everett Fritz was present, but had nothing to report.

FAMILY DIRECTOR:

 

  The Family Director was not present. There was no report.

 

   

LIFE DIRECTOR:

 

The Life Director was not present. There was no report.

 

 

COMMUNITY DIRECTOR

 

The Community Director was not present, there was no report.

 

 

Unfinished Business

  There was no old business conducted at the meeting.  

 

     

NEW BUSINESS

  With Unfinished Business being concluded the Grand Knight asked whether anyone had any new business to bring up with the Council.

 

  Chad Eickholt was duly recognized. Chad informed the Council Fernando Vasquez’s son has cancer. Mr. Vasquez is a janitor at our Church. Besides having cancer, Chad reported the child has down-syndrome. The young man goes by the nick name of “Flaco.” Chad informed the Council the Church had created a “Go Fund Me” account for Flaco. Chad encouraged the Knights to support the Go Fund Me account.

 

On motion duly made and seconded the Council gave a donation of $1,000 to the Flaco fund.

 

  Next, Greg Brown was recognized. Greg recognized the economy was beginning to open up with the covid vaccine being distributed and the covid cases on the downturn and suggested the Council talk with Father about what the Council might do in an effort to help the Parish bring families back to the Church. With that subject being discussed, a Brother Knight said he had it on good authority the Church would be sponsoring a Parish picnic in May and the Council would be asked to provide man power for the event.

 

  Finally, Jerry Gerstberger was recognized. Jerry brought to the Council’s attention that today, March 11, 2021, was the start of the Knights Consecration to Joseph novena.

 

   

FOURTH DEGREE REPORT:

 

The Grand Knight called upon the Faithful Navigator and inquired whether he had anything to report to the Council. Dan Hageman, the Worthy Navigator, was present.

 

Dan announced the 4th Degree Assembly would be accepting one of those Tuesdays being made available by the Church for the Knights. He said the Assembly would start Assembly meetings using the Tuesday they accept. He indicated he would be in touch by e-mail to the Assembly members.

The Grand Knight reported the Knight and Family were as follows:

DISTRICT DEPUTY COMMENTS:

 

  The District Deputy was not present. There was no report.

Our Field Agent, John Rodriguez was not present at the meeting.

Prayers Requested

 

  Before closing the meeting the Grand Knight asked whether any Brother Knight wished to request prayers for the sick and distressed. The name for which prayers were requested was:

 

Sally Davis, Greg Davis’ wife, is undergoing surgery;

Fernando “Flaco” Vasquez, Jr. & the Family;

Phil Fowler’s 91 year old mother, who just got out of surgery;

Harry Hoffert, brother-in-law of Greg Brown, who is undergoing shoulder surgery;

Jonathan White’s wife’s aunt who passed away recently.

ADORATION

 

Jerry Gerstberger was present. He said during the pandemic only four worshippers at a time are permitted in the Adoration Chapel. With things beginning to open up, Jerry said he will let the Council know if things change.
